          • Civilian Capacities for Peace Operations Case Study – Finland

          • BCSP project partner Andreja Bogdanovski of the Analytica from Macedonia has written publication Civilian Capacities for Peace Operations Case Study – Finland.

        • Finnish experience regarding the civilian capacities for peace operations  has been developing over the years and it went through several transformations by way of its own internal reform processes.

Finnish civilian contribution to peace operations, even though an independent policy, is still intertwined with a number of other processes and state policies such as the country’s foreign policy, the development policy and crisis management operations, while operating in very close cooperation with the Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The structure of Finnish civilian capacities for operations abroad shows similarities to that of the countries across the Western Balkans which are in the nascent phase with regard to deployments with civilian capacities.

This publication is a product of a research project “Building Civilian Capacities from the Western Balkans in Peace Support Operations”, financed by the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
