    • Lecture of the Finnish State Secretary at the Faculty of Political Sciences

    •
    • Date: 04 April 2013
The topic of the lecture which is intended for student but also for representatives of relevant institutions of the security sector in Serbia will be: Foreign and security policy - the Finnish way.

Belgrade Centre for Security Policy (BCSP) together with the Faculty of Political Sciences and the Embassy of Finland in Belgrade organises a lecture by H.E. Pertti Torstila - State Secretary in the Foreign Ministry of Finland on the April 4th, 2013.

The lecture will take place at the Faculty of Political Sciences, Jove Ilića 165 (auditorium 3) at 14:00 hours. Apart from our guest from Finland, Professor Predrag Simić from the Faculty of Political Sciences will also take part in the discussion. The lecture will be in English.

Finnish military neutrality policy is often stated as an example which Serbia should follow. However, having in mind that Finland was first neutral country which established official relations with NATO and joined the partnership for Peace program and which is actively engaged in implementation of Common Foreign and Security Policy of the European Union, it is questionable whether this neutrality still exists intact. The answer to that question will be given by Mr. Torstila during his lecture which he will deliver during his official visit to Belgrade.

Mr. Torstila is more than forty years in active diplomatic service during which, among other things, he dealt with security policy, disarmament and military security. He spent significant part of his career as the Finnish representative to the Conference for European Security and Cooperation but also as Ambassador to Hungary, Croatia and Sweden.

To confirm your presence as well as for any additional information about the lecture please contact Djordje Popović at djordje.popovic@bezbednost.org
