    • Gender Mainstreaming and Indicators for the Implementation of UNSCR 1325 - The Second Meeting

    •
    • Date: 06 November 2014
Comparing existing evaluation mechanisms and indicators for the implementation of UNSCR 1325 and exchanging ideas and best practices among international organizations and military are the main topics of the meeting that will take place on November 6-7, 2014 in Washington, DC. BCSP Director Sonja Stojanovic Gajic will contribute the discussion on evaluation mechanisms and indicators and their effectiveness in military operations.

The aim of the meeting is to gather relevant experts from NATO member and partner states and international organizations that have developed indicators to measure progress with respect to UNSCR 1325 implementation in order to identify challenges as well as best practices.

The meeting is a second part of the UNSCR 1325 and NATO Project - Gender Mainstreaming: Indicators for the Implementation of UNSCR 1325. This meeting is particularly important since it will contrast and compare existing evaluation mechanisms and indicators, and give a special attention to the development of the 1325 NATO Scorecard methodology. The 1325 NATO Scorecard is intended as an educational tool and will focus on how best to increase implementation and learn from the experiences of others. First meeting was organized this year, in May, in Belgrade.

At the meeting opening remarks will be given by:

      • Michael Gaul, Senior Advisor, Emerging Security Challenges Division, NATO
      • Kathleen Kuehnast, Director, Center for Gender and Peacebuilding, USIP
      • Chantal de Jonge Oudraat, President, Women In International Security

The BCSP director Sonja Stojanović Gajić will take a significant part in facilitating sessions on the existing evaluation mechanisms and indicators and their effectiveness in military operations and contribute to development and contextualization of indicators —with special attention to implementation at the military level.
