    • BCSP on a list of the best think tanks in the world in three categories

    •
    • Date: 29 January 2016
      Based on the latest findings from the most known global ranking of think tanks, Belgrade Centre for Security Policy (BCSP) is the top ranking think thank in the Western Balkans among all those researching defense and national security, and foreign policy and international relations.

      For the fourth year in a row, BCSP is included in the Global Go To Think Tank Index. BCSP is ranked 15th on the list of the best Think Tanks in Central and Eastern Europe, 35th place in the world among those who deal with Defense and National Security, as well as the 39th place among Top Foreign Policy and International Affairs Think Tanks.

      A list published by University of Pennsylvania (USA) is a result of a several months of research covering 6,850 Think Tanks around the world. Over 4,750 institutions, organizations and independent experts, as well as journalists, donors and representatives of government, NGOs and international organizations participated in voting. A small number of Think Tanks per category gets to be nominated each year, between 40 and 150, which makes the achievement of BCSP even more significant.

      Some of the almost 30 different criteria used in assessing the significance of each organization are:

      • Quality, dedication and reputation of the management and employees;
      • Quantity, quality and the effect of research;
      • Reputation among the policy makers and politicians;
      • The level, diversity and stability of financing and management efficiency;
      • Ability to communicate via traditional as well as new media;
      • Ability to include new participants in the policy making process;
      • Ability to create new basis of knowledge and alternative ideas;
      • Impact on society.

      Global Go To Think Tank Index is a response of the University of Pennsylvania (Programme for research centers and civil society in the Department of International Relations) at the large number of requests of donors and journalists to make a list of of the most eminent national, regional and international think tanks. Organizations are ranked in 47 categories, according to the region they belong to, the areas explored and specific results they have achieved.
