    • Serbia, the Western Balkans and the EU: has progress stalled?

    •
    • Date: 22 March 2017

BCSP Director Sonja Stojanovic Gajic will present her assessment of the political and security situation in Serbia and the Western Balkans, supported with recent findings from surveys, at the event organized in the Norwegian Institute of International Affairs (NUPI) on 22 March 2017.

The presentation will cover following questions:

      - What are the reasons for the failing EU drive in Serbia and the Western Balkans?

      - Is the war-prone rhetoric by the political elites backed up by public opinion?

      - What are the prospects for democracy and stability after the presidential elections 2 April 2017?

The presentation will be followed by Q&A.

Belgrade Centre for Security Policy recently published presentations on public perception of Serbia’s foreign policy and national security and dialogue with Pristina.

Sonja Stojanovic Gajic holds a MA in Politics, Security and Integration with distinction from the School of Slavonic and Eastern European Studies, University College London.

The NUPI carries out research and disseminates findings on global power relations, security policy, development issues, international economics and Norwegian foreign policy. The institute has for more than 50 years been a leading community for research and communication about international affairs of relevance for Norway.

The event is a part of the project entitled "Renewed and revised co-operation between the BCSP, regional partners and the Norwegian Institute of International Affairs", funded by Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
