The Conference will be held in the Sava Centre, in Belgrade, on October 30-31, 2006.<\/p>\n<p>\t<strong>The conference aims at providing an opportunity for the initiation of public dialogue among state officials, civilian experts and civil society on the security sector in Serbia &#8211; its features, main achievements during the last six years, as well as the prospects for the future development.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\tIn order to enrich this discussion with comparative insights from another state that had to deal with authoritarian heritage, and to reform its security sector simultaneously with societal, economic and political system, we have invited the experts from Czech\u00a0Republic to present their experience. The Geneva Centre for the Democratic Control of Armed Forces (DCAF), as one of the leading research institutions regarding the security sector reform and governance in transitional societies, would familiarise the conference participants with the lessons learned.
