{"id":17655,"date":"2014-02-26T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2014-02-25T23:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/bezbednost.org\/najava\/discussion-on-kosovo-security-force\/"},"modified":"2014-02-26T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2014-02-25T23:00:00","slug":"discussion-on-kosovo-security-force","status":"publish","type":"najava","link":"https:\/\/bezbednost.org\/en\/event\/discussion-on-kosovo-security-force\/","title":{"rendered":"Discussion on Kosovo Security Force"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\t<strong>Belgrade Centre for Security Policy (BCSP) is organising on 26 February 2014 a presentation on Kosovo Security Force (KSF) with the <\/strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bezbednost.org\/BCSP-News\/5427\/New-guest-researchers-in-the-BCSP.shtml\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>guest speaker Shpend Kursani<\/strong><\/a><strong>, an External Senior Researcher at Kosovar Center for Security Studies.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\tWith the organisation of this event, BCSP aims to provide information and open space for discussion on following issues:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\t\tWhat is current KSF legal mandate, institutional setup and manpower?<\/li>\n<li>\t\tWhat is the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.qkss.org\/en-us\/Reports\/Kosovo-Security-Barometer-Third-Edition-196\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">perceptions of KSF among citizens<\/a>?<\/li>\n<li>\t\tHow much are Serbs represented in KSF and how effective is its diversity policy?<\/li>\n<li>\t\tWhat are the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.qkss.org\/en-us\/Policy-Papers\/What-next-for-KSF-An-army-or-not-165\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">scenarios discussed for the future of KSF<\/a>? Which institutional designs and capacities are planned?<\/li>\n<li>\t\tWhat are positions of major political groups in Kosovo regarding the future of KSF?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\t<strong>The number of participants is limited due to the seating capacity, and the participation must be confirmed by email <\/strong><a href=\"mailto:office@bezbednost.org\"><strong>office@bezbednost.org<\/strong><\/a><strong>or phone 011\/3287-226.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\tShpend Kursani has published on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kipred.org\/advCms\/download.php?75575_YFN_2012_Policy_Brief_Shpend_Kursani.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">oversight of intelligence services<\/a> and on <a href=\"http:\/\/http:\/www.qkss.org\/repository\/docs\/Lawful_Interception_of_Telecommunications_in_Kosovo-Security_Implications_333536.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">lawful interception oftelecommunications in Kosovo<\/a>,as well as on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kipred.org\/advCms\/documents\/56243_A_Comprehensive_Analysis_of_EULEX.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">EULEX<\/a>. He is also a Member of Assembly at the Prishtina Council on Foreign Relations &#8211; PCFR, a Founder and Member of the Steering Committee at the Balkan Think Tense &#8211; BTT, and an adjunct lecturer in the field of International Relations at the University College Universum.<\/p>\n<p>\tKursani\u2019s engagement in BCSP is part of the project \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/www.bezbednost.org\/All-projects\/5017\/Security-Research-Forum-BelgradePrishtinaTirana.shtml\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Security research forum Belgrade-Pristina-Tirana<\/a>\u201d, which is realizing with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Norway. The project is meant to foster balanced debate among think-tank community, academia, public policy and media in order to provide research-based alternative solutions to ongoing challenges of cooperation among Serbia, Kosovo and Albania.
