{"id":17678,"date":"2015-07-07T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2015-07-06T22:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/bezbednost.org\/najava\/futures-of-security-normalisation-among-belgrade-prishtina-tirana\/"},"modified":"2015-07-07T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2015-07-06T22:00:00","slug":"futures-of-security-normalisation-among-belgrade-prishtina-tirana","status":"publish","type":"najava","link":"https:\/\/bezbednost.org\/en\/event\/futures-of-security-normalisation-among-belgrade-prishtina-tirana\/","title":{"rendered":"Future(s) of Security Normalisation among Belgrade-Prishtina-Tirana"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\t<strong>Belgrade Centre for Security Policy (BCSP), Kosovar Centre for Security Studies (KCSS) and Institute for Democracy and Mediation (IDM) from Tirana are organizing the discussion \u201cFuture(s) of Security Normalisation among Belgrade-Prishtina-Tirana\u201d, which will take place on 9 July 2015 at 1 pm in the Media Center (Terazije 3, Belgrade).<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\tStarting from the assumption that key for\u00a0stabilisation of the Western Balkan region in the next decade lies with improving the Serbian-Albanian relations, BCSP, KCSS and IDM had initiated in 2012 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bezbednost.org\/All-projects\/5017\/Security-Research-Forum-BelgradePrishtinaTirana.shtml\"><strong>Security Research Forum Belgrade-Pristina-Tirana<\/strong><\/a> aimed at improving understanding of bilateral and trilateral security issues by establishing links among security policy communities.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\tIn last three years, significant progress has been made in establishing official dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina authorities as a part of Brussels-mediated process, as well as between Belgrade and Tirana motivated by economic development promoted through a Berlin-led Conference of Western Balkan States.<\/p>\n<p>\tDespite progress in political dialogue, there are still gaps in security cooperation that allow for some threats such as organised crime or foreign fighters or migrants to travel with limited obstacles.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\tAt the conference we will share our research insights on possible way forward regarding normalisation of Belgrade-Pristina and Belgrade-Tirana relations.<\/p>\n<h2>\tRegistration:<\/h2>\n<p>\tWe sincerely hope that you will be able to join us at this important event and help us engage in a constructive debate on improvement of security cooperation between Belgrade, Prishtina and Tirana. We share a concern for human security and democratization, and believe that competent involvement of civil society in security politics can make security governance more representative, transparent, democratic and effective. The project is initiated to foster balanced debate among think-tank community, academia, public policy and media in order to provide research-based alternative solutions to ongoing challenges of cooperation among Serbia, Kosovo and Albania.
