BSW is an initiative of several civil society organizations that was launched in order to help citizens understand and engage in contemporary debate on security issues, while being concerned with bringing together different stakeholders.

Since 2000, deaths of seven people in Serbia were caused by hooligan violence. Riots at sporting events have been brought into the mainstream, and widely discussed during the last two years in political and academic circles. 2010 incidents in the stadium “Luigi Ferraris” in Genoa, in conjunction with the incidents during the Pride Parade last year show how important it is to discuss causes of hooliganism and state failure to address it. In the meantime, sport continues to produce serious “dose” of insecurity. Reported incidents are not just random and isolated acts of violence, but constitute a part of various criminal activities. During the session, panelists Jovana Vlaškalin (CPDD), Nebojša Jelić (CPDD), Saša Djordjević (BCSP) and Marko Savković (BCSP) will try to answer following questions:

1) What are the causes of violence?
