The fact that our region had its five minutes in the campaign, that the Serbian and American administrations raised the level of cooperation, as well as that the perception of the USA among the citizens of Serbia has improved, certainly influenced the great public attention towards “the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November”. This contributed to the formation of opinions about the candidates, about what the victory of one or the other will mean for Serbia and how Serbian-American relations will further develop. Attitudes are taken and there is an impatient anticipation of November 3 in order to find out the fate of Serbia in the next four years.

However, is everything as it seems? Did Serbia really have an important place in the American presidential campaign? What is the nature of the relationship that developed during the mandate of the current administration? Will these relations change for the better or for the worse if one or the other candidate wins? What awaits Serbia after the US elections?

The answers to these and many other questions will be provided by:

Thomas Countryman, chair of the Arms Control Association board of directors and former Acting Under Secretary for Arms Control and International Security

Dr. Ivan Vujacic, professor at the Faculty of Economics and former ambassador of Serbia to the United States

Slobodan Georgiev, news and program director of Newsmax Adria

Moderator: Dr. Milan Krstić, Faculty of Political Science University of Belgrade

Please sign up for the discussion by email at office@bezbednost.org, after which you will be sent a Zoom link.

The working language of the discussion is English.

This discussion is part of the “A Real Say on Serbian-American Relations”, project implemented by the Belgrade Centre for Security Policy in partnership with the Faculty of Political Sciences University of Belgrade with the support of the US Embassy in Serbia.

The Belgrade Centre for Security Policy and the Faculty of Political Sciences University of Belgrade invite you to an online discussion “American Elections and Serbian Dilemmas” on November 2 at 2 pm.

[8614,8613,8616,8620
10752,10749,10751,10746,10750,10748
10677
post-22977","najava","type-najava","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-bilateral-relations","category-foreign-policy","category-international-security-cooperation","category-serbian-foreign-policy","tag-american-elections","tag-dr-ivan-vujacic","tag-dr-milan-krstic","tag-fakultet-politickih-nauka","tag-slobodan-georgiev","tag-tomas-kantrimen
["GET
