In the last few months, the topic of potential new conflicts in Bosnia and Herzegovina and between Serbs and Albanians in Kosovo has come to the fore again in the Balkans. Although democratization and Euro-Atlantic integration have been one of the main factors in reducing tensions after the wars in the former Yugoslavia, the current situation in the Western Balkans can be described as a democratic setback. The restoration of autocracy and ideologies from the 1990s, followed by the neglect of the entire region by the European Union, is also coming to the surface. There is little space for real cooperation among the Western Balkan countries in such an environment. The war in Ukraine has further complicated the political and security situation in the Balkans. Still, it is uncertain how events in Ukraine will affect Euro-Atlantic integration and democratization of the region and whether it will encourage resolving open issues or inflame tensions and deepen existing divisions.<\/p>\n
How do the citizens of Serbia see regional relations? Are they afraid of potential conflict? How are relations in the region viewed from Pristina, Podgorica, and Sarajevo? How can the war in Ukraine affect the region? What are the biggest threats in the countries in the region, and how could they spread to the entire Balkans?<\/p>\n
