\tThe MP of the Serbian Progressive Party, Vladimir Djukanovic, for the past year in the media have been presenting falsehoods that violate the honour and reputation of the Belgrade Centre for Security Policy, thereby violating the Law on Public Information and Media (Article 83).<\/p>\n
\tThe latest untruth that Djukanovic presented was that the BCSP works “”. We would like to remind that according to the Criminal Code, work by task of the intelligence service is a crime of espionage (Article 315). At the same time we emphasize that a false declaration of a criminal offense or perpetrator, if the person who makes such an accusation knows that it is not a real offender and a real offense, is\u00a0 a criminal offense as well.<\/p>\n
\tSimilar attacks on BCSP were also made by the Ministry of Internal Affairs State Secretary, Biljana Popovic Ivkovic, who defamed the BCSP researcher for the “”.<\/p>\n
\tIn addition to government officials, lies about the BCSP are also publicized by members of the “” (Covenants), far-right organization, intensively after publishing the results of a public opinion poll which \u00a0indicated that three-quarters of citizens \u00a0consider armed conflict in order for Kosovo and Metohija to remain part of Serbia not justified.<\/p>\n
\tThe attacks on the BCSP are not only verbal, in August 2016, the pre-stated “” message was written on the BCSP Executive Director's car. Although the case was immediately reported to the police, the perpetrators are still not found.<\/p>\n
\tIn order to combat the spread of untruths and threats of violence, beside informing the public the BCSP will consider seeking judicial protection.<\/p>\n
