{"id":20819,"date":"2014-02-18T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2014-02-17T23:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/bezbednost.org\/new-guest-researchers-in-the-bcsp\/"},"modified":"2020-07-21T20:52:06","modified_gmt":"2020-07-21T18:52:06","slug":"new-guest-researchers-in-the-bcsp","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bezbednost.org\/en\/new-guest-researchers-in-the-bcsp\/","title":{"rendered":"New guest researchers in the BCSP"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\t<strong>Sofije Kryeziu will be joining the Belgrade Centre for Security Policy (BCSP) for a period of one month starting from 18th February 2014.<\/strong><\/p>\n<div class=\"anterfile\">\t<em>\u201cDuring my engagement in BCSP I will be drafting a research paper on the minority inclusion in the security sector in Serbia. More concretely the aim of this research is to provide a brief analysis regarding the inclusion of ethnic Albanian minority in Serbia&#39;s security institutions, with the primary focus on the Police and Gendarmerie\u201d, said Kryeziu.<\/em><\/div>\n<p>\tSofije Kryeziu works as a Researcher\/Project Coordinator at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.qkss.org\/en-us\/Home\">Kosovar Center for Security Studies<\/a> since November 2011. She has completed the Master Studies in Management, Business and Economy at the University of Business and Technology; whereas, her Bachelor\u2019s Degree she obtained in Political Science, International Relations and Diplomacy with a particular focus on Law, International Relations and Diplomacy at the above-mentioned university. She has been the author\/co-author of various security related publications within KCSS.<\/p>\n<p>\t<strong>Shpend Kursani is an External Senior Researcher at the KCSS.\u00a0<\/strong><strong>During his engagement in BCSP Kursani will conduct a two week research on police cooperation between Kosovo and Serbia.<\/strong><\/p>\n<div class=\"anterfile\">\t<em>\u201cI will be exploring the modalities of cooperation should EULEX, who serves as the mediator in police cooperation between the two, abolish its executive mandate in Kosovo. Additionally, I will be looking into the challenges with current mode of cooperation and its impact on security threats and their nature for both Kosovo and Serbia\u201d, said Kursani<\/em><em>.<\/em><\/div>\n<p>\tHe is also a Member of Assembly at the Prishtina Council on Foreign Relations &#8211; PCFR, a Founder and Member of the Steering Committee at the Balkan Think Tense &#8211; BTT, and an adjunct lecturer in the field of International Relations at the University College Universum. Kursani has pursued his master degree at the University of Cambridge (2010-2011) where he earned his M.Phil. Degree in International Relations with distinctions on his thesis topic \u201cUsing Soft Power: The EU\u2019s Ability to Influence the Domestic and Foreign Policies of the States of the Western Balkans\u201d. He holds a B.Sc. degree in Public Policy and Management with the highest honours from the American University in Kosovo (2003-2007).<\/p>\n<p>\t<em>Kursani&#39;s and Kryeziu&#39;s work in BCSP is part of the project \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/www.bezbednost.org\/All-projects\/5017\/Security-Research-Forum-BelgradePrishtinaTirana.shtml\">Security research forum Belgrade-Pristina-Tirana<\/a>\u201d which is realizing with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Norway.
