{"id":20956,"date":"2017-03-31T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2017-03-30T22:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/bezbednost.org\/youth-organization-from-denmark-visits-bcsp\/"},"modified":"2020-07-21T20:52:01","modified_gmt":"2020-07-21T18:52:01","slug":"youth-organization-from-denmark-visits-bcsp","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bezbednost.org\/en\/youth-organization-from-denmark-visits-bcsp\/","title":{"rendered":"Youth organization from Denmark visits BCSP"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\t{image1}<\/p>\n<p>\t<strong>Security and historical aspects of the Serbia &#8211; Kosovo relations were the main subjects in a discussion between a group of students coming from SILBA &#8211; Initiative for Dialogue and Democracy from Denmark and the researchers from BCSP, during a lecture held on March 30, 2017.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\tResearcher <a href=\"http:\/\/bezbednost.org\/Researchers\/5322\/Bojan-Elek.shtml\">Bojan Elek<\/a> talked about the context and the background of the contemporary ethnic relations in the Western Balkans. The lecture was dedicated to the historical facts of conflicts in Kosovo, ending with the recent Brussels Agreement and the current negotiating process between Belgrade and Pristina.\u00a0<\/p>\n<div class=\"anterfile\">\t\u201cThe Brussels Agreement is the first breakthrough of years long political situation of status quo. The negotiating process is necessary for solving long term problems\u201d, Elek emphasized.<\/div>\n<p>\t{image2}<\/p>\n<p>\tResearcher <a href=\"http:\/\/bezbednost.org\/List-of-all-people\/4075\/Maja-Bjelos.shtml\">Maja Bjelos<\/a> presented the citizens\u2019 attitudes toward the current Serbia &#8211; Kosovo relations. In this <a href=\"http:\/\/bezbednost.org\/Sve-publikacije\/6461\/Stavovi-gradjana-o-bezbednosti-Srbije-i-dijalogu.shtml\">public opinion poll<\/a>, BCSP has\u00a0obtained the information about the national security of Serbia and the expected responses to security threats.<\/p>\n<p>\t<strong>\u201cThe official policy of the Government of the Republic of Serbia concerning Kosovo does not go beyond the refusal to accept it&#39;s sovereignty. Still, citizens are recognizing the importance of continuing the dialogue, because three quarters of them are for it, while just 9 percent are against it\u201d, Bjelos concluded.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\tCoordinator for internship program at BCSP <a href=\"http:\/\/bezbednost.org\/Researchers\/5321\/Vladimir-Erceg.shtml\">Vladimir Erceg<\/a>\u00a0presented the opportunity for cooperation through the fellowship program for foreign students, implemented by BCSP since 2007, and called them to take part at the following <a href=\"http:\/\/belgradeforum.org\/\">Belgrade Security Forum<\/a>, the largest regional conference dedicated towards security.<\/p>\n<p>\tThe students were the most interested in historical aspect of inter-ethnic conflicts in the Western Balkans. The group was led by <strong>Milica Mirkovic<\/strong>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.silbadk.com\/\">SILBA<\/a> executive board member.\u00a0Silba is an NGO based in Denmark dedicated to electoral observation and education in Central and Eastern Europe.
