{"id":23899,"date":"2021-02-14T17:20:41","date_gmt":"2021-02-14T16:20:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/bezbednost.org\/national-convention-on-the-european-union-nceu\/"},"modified":"2021-02-27T00:25:53","modified_gmt":"2021-02-26T23:25:53","slug":"national-convention-on-the-european-union-nceu","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bezbednost.org\/en\/national-convention-on-the-european-union-nceu\/","title":{"rendered":"National Convention on the European Union (NCEU)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>National Convention on European Union in Serbia (NCEU) is a civil society collaborative network established in 2014 by 17 prominent civil society organisations (CSOs) as a response to the need for quality and active involvement of civil society in the accession negotiations.<\/p>\n<p>The overall objective is to establish transparent and inclusive process of Serbia\u2019s accession to the EU, which provides consultations with civil society, participation and monitoring throughout the process, as well as increasing the quality of the information provided for the Serbian public.<\/p>\n<p>Main aims of the network are threefold:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>to support EU negotiation process,<\/li>\n<li>to monitor progress of the reforms and benchmarks\u2019 implementation,<\/li>\n<li>to provide timely and quality informing of the citizens.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>NCEU has more than 700 CSOs participating in its work and held more than 180 sessions and public events so far.<\/p>\n<p>NCEU is structured around 21 Working groups (WG) covering 35 negotiating chapters and a Program Council which gathers the coordinators of all WGs and Core Expert Team dedicated to analysis of horizontal issues. Outcomes of every WG session where dialogue with Government and Parliament is held are recommendations.<\/p>\n<p>NCEU represents an institutionalized consultative mechanism: part of the obligatory procedure on adoption of the Negotiating positions in the Committee for EU integration of the Parliament since 2014; was recognized as a channel for informing the public on the negotiation process by the Government in August 2015 and is to be consulted in the development of the negotiation positions by Negotiating Team.
