General oversight mechanisms in Serbia and the need for internal and external oversight mechanisms for the police in specific were the topics on which BCSP researcher Maja Bjelos spoke at a side event during the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) Human Dimension Implementation Meeting (HDIM), held on 24 September.

Regional cooperation, Europian integrations and security chalenges like corruption and cyber criminal were some of the topics which were discussed during the third Belgrade security forum held from 19th to 21st September 2013. at Hyatt Regency hotel.

BCSP team has been expanded by the energy and the knowledge of eight new interns.

Specific cases of irregularities in the process of public procurements, new legislation in this area, as well as new responsibilities of specialized bodies in the procurement process, were the topics of advanced training for researchers organized in the BCSP library.

EU integration can improve relations between Belgrade, Pristina and Tirana, and the maintenance of existing stereotypes will downgrade them – this is the conclusion of the expert discussion about the future of relations between the three communities organized on 9th September 2013. by the Belgrade Centre for Security Policy (BCSP).

BCBP in cooperation with the Commissioner for Protection of Equality and the support of the media influenced the Police Academy and the University of Defence to abolish discriminatory admission policies that restricted the number of women who can be educated in these institutions.

Advocacy, good and bad use of PR tools, designing the media plan and community building were the topics discussed on the second capacity building worshop for the A-COP group.

The seminar Gender mainstreaming in policing was realized as a part of cooperation between Swedish National Police Board (SNPB), Belgrade Center for Security Policy (BCSP) and Ministry of Interior with support of Swedish International Development Agency (SIDA) within the program of Development of the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Serbia 2012-2014 Phase II: Supporting the implementation of the Development Strategy.

Corruption risk assessment methodology, as well as the mechanisms and instruments for addressing those risks were at the very focus of the regional seminar that gathered 10 think-tank organizations from the Western Balkans.
