We, the signatories of this press release, alert to the impermissible violations of the human rights of all of Serbia’s citizens which characterised the entire election process since 1 November 2023, when the early parliamentary and local elections were called and the ensuing activities of the Republican Election Commission and the Belgrade City Election Commission, and which culminated on election day, 17 December 2023.

The Belgrade Centre for Security Policy categorically rejects and denies the falsehoods that were first published on the internet portal "Alo" on Saturday, October 21st, 2023, and then picked up by other pro-government media. This is a dirty campaign with the aim of discrediting the organisation and its executives, and the BCSP will seek protection in court proceedings.

Serbia and the Western Balkans are yet again at a crossroads. The time has come either to achieve long-term peace and prosperity through the EU integration process or to once again plunge into a deadly spiral of autocracy and conflict. The normalisation of relations between Belgrade and Pristina and the resolution of all outstanding disputes in the region will not be possible without state de-capture and full renewal of democracy in Serbia.
