Police reform is crucial for Serbia’s progress under negotiating Chapter 24, it was assessed at the panel discussion organized by BCSP and OSCE.

The need for greater coherence and accuracy of the negotiating position, as well as greater transparency and inclusiveness of the process of negotiations on Serbia’s membership in the EU, was pointed out at the meeting of CSO’s and MPs.

BCSP research team has perfected the knowledge necessary to monitor the fulfilment of measures and transitional provisions under Chapter 24 of the accession negotiations on Serbia’s membership in the European Union.

At the meeting organized by BCSP was highlighted that the opening of Chapter 24 of the negotiations for Serbia’s membership in the European Union is possible in the first half of 2016.

Negotiating Group on Justice, Freedom and Security will meet at least twice a year with the Working Group of National Convent on European Union, so they can together analyze and prepare the Report on the implementation of the Action Plan for Chapter 24, and the Ministry of Internal Affairs is committed to publish summary of CSO’s comments regarding the Action Plan, as well as the latest version of this strategic document in Serbian language.

The drafting process and the content of the Action Plan for Chapter 24 were a topic for the first time in the discussion that gathered the President of the Negotiating Team and coordinators for all 10 policies within the chapter, more than 20 CSO and a great number of media representatives, at the session of the National Convention’s Working Group for Chapter 24.

Civil society organizations request from the Ministry of Interior to publish the Draft Action Plan for Chapter 24 (Justice, Freedom, and Security) and enable interested stakeholders to participate in its preparation.
