Uncoordinated state policy in the field of criminal law, more precisely, the need for harmonization of new Law on Police with Criminal Procedure Code, were the main topics of the sixth CHATvrtak.

The main topic of the fifth CHATvrtak was a critical review of the process of (none) adoption of the new Law on the fight against corruption, which should have been completed in September 2014 according to the Action Plan for the implementation of anti-corruption strategy.

It is of crucial importance in Serbia’s EU accession process, to include civil society organizations, accept their proposals, and enable them to directly influence creating of policies – concluded the participants of first EU-Serbia Civil society Joint Consultative Committee meeting.

Special measures for covert data collection infringe upon fundamental rights and therefore it is vital that they are implemented only under the circumstances defined by law. To this end, it is necessary to establish a comprehensive external oversight of implementation of special measures is. BCSP’s research team has now compiled a handbook to support that process.

This analysis offers insight into the implementation of special measures for covert data collection, especially special evidentiary actions, which are used throughout the process of discovering and proving special criminal actions.

Reports on progress of Serbia in the area of justice, freedom and security will be semiannually presented to citizens. These documents will be available at Ministry of Interior website, and consultations with civil society organizations interested in this process will be organized on this occasion.

The coalition prEUgovor has been monitoring Serbia’s progress in regard to the adherence to political criteria for EU membership and policies covered under Chapters 23 (Judiciary and Fundamental Rights) and 24 (Justice, Freedom and Security) of the European acquis in the negotiation process.

Civil society organizations request from the Ministry of Interior to publish the Draft Action Plan for Chapter 24 (Justice, Freedom, and Security) and enable interested stakeholders to participate in its preparation.

Compared to the previous report of the coalition prEUgovor, in the implementation of policies under Chapters 23 and 24 there was no progress in four out of seven monitored areas, whereas in the area of media freedoms there was a decline.
