In this paper we will present the assumptions underlying the research conducted by the Centre for Civil-Military Relations team within the "Mapping and Monitoring Security Sector Reform in Serbia" project.

The book combines the papers prepared by the researchers and associates within a project on the "Protection of Human Rights in the Army and the Police of the FR of Yugoslavia". The whole project, including the publishing effort, was implemented with the support of the Westminster Foundation for Democracy, London and Freedom House, Budapest.

Serbia has adopted its Strategy for Managing Migrations in 2009, yet in order for it to be implemented more efficiently, more active monitoring and increased advocacy is necessary.

Together with its partner organizations the BCSP will present results of "People’s Peacemaking Perspective" project to the European Parliament, DG Enlargement and European External Action Service. The results will be also presented to the representatives of think-tank organizations in Brussels.

There has been significant progress regarding security sector reform in the region, but there are still many challenges, such as: politicization, criminalization and not enough civilian control in practice - these are the conclusions of the round table that promoted "Almanac on Security Oversight in the Western Balkans".
