NATO vs. Crises – round table at the BCSP, May 16th at 4pm
Global economy turmoil and certain identity shift influenced the functioning of NATO - how does this organization react to new challenges will be the dominant question of the debate that is going to be held in BCSP library on May 16th at 4pm.
Specific topics to be addressed:
- How does NATO respond to the world economic crisis and austerity measures which lead to significant cuts in defence budgets?
- Is there a crisis of identity within NATO taht is reflected through decreased financial and military participation of the European members and greater role of other allies such as Australia and Japan?
- Would the presidential elections in the U.S. impact the U.S. involvement in the NATO?
- How has NATO changed after intervention in Libya?
- What are the implications of the new partnership policy for Serbia?
- What lessons can Serbia learn from the Smart Defence concept?
- Is NATO prepared to respond to re-emerging security challenges in the Western Balkans?
