Belgrade Centre for Security Policy (BCSP) will present their research study “Incompatible Occupations with Police Profession” on Tuesday, 12 of December 2017, in Media Center (Terazije 3, Belgrade), starting from 11:00.

The aim of the event is to present research results on conflict of interests within the police and to initiate a dialogue on legal regulation of incompatible occupations and business interests with police profession. This topic is especially current since the Proposal for amendments to the Law on Police will be discussed in December 2017 by the Serbian Parliament, and which will again change the regulation on secondary employment in the police.

The following questions will be discussed at the event:
 

  • Does the law regulate jobs incompatible with the police profession?
  • What do proposed amendments to the Law on Police bring?
  • Are the police officers satisfied with their job in Ministry of Interior?
  • Which jobs are incompatible with police duty according to the officers?
  • How are these work areas regulated in other countries?
  • How should conflicts of interest be regulated by the police?

The study will be presented by:

  • Sofija Mandić, BCSP legal researcher,
  • Saša Đorđević, BCSP researcher and coordinator of POINTPULSE network. 

Speakers on incompatible occupations with police profession will be:

  • Vladimir Pavićević, Vice President of the Police Union of Serbia,
  • Vladimir Džigurski, Executive Vice President of Police Professional Association “Dr. Rudolf Arčibald Rajs”,
  • Mile Lazarević, Vice President of Serbian Police Union,
  • Đorđe Vučinić, Deputy Secretary of the Association of Private Security and Other Service Activities.

The working language of the conference is Serbian. Simultaneous translation into English will be provided.
