Western Balkans Think Tank Forum 2020

Western Balkans Think Tank Forum under the title “Stimulating strategic autonomy - Western Balkans’ contribution for a shared European Future”, organized by the Institute for Democracy “Societas Civilis“ Skopje (IDSCS) and European Council on Foreign Relations (ECFR) Sofia, will take place on 8 - 10 March 2020 in Skopje.

Experts will discuss different challenging areas of European integration. More general outlooks on the future of Europe, based on the accumulated knowledge and expertise of European think-tanks, should inspire and encourage participants and governments alike to take ambitious steps towards a shared European future.

BCSP Director Igor Bandovic will take part in the panel discussion on security and hybrid threats, together with Marko Savkovic, Program Director of the Belgrade Fund for Political Excellence, Valbona Zeneli, Chair of the Strategic Initiatives Department of the George C. Marshall European Center for Security Studies, Oana Popescu Zamfir, Director of the Global Focus Centre, and Vesna Poposka, assistant professor at the Faculty of Law, International Vision University.

Some of the other topics that will be discussed during the forum are migration, rule of law, the future of Europe, the New Green Deal, and economic and social convergence.

This event is an integral part of the 2020 Berlin Process Co-Presidency programme hosted by the governments of the Republic of Bulgaria and the Republic of North Macedonia. It is supported by the Erste Stiftung and Europe’s Futures.
