BSSS/CCMR Presentation in the Norwegian Institute of Foreign Affairs

Today in the Norwegian Institute of Foreign Affairs (NUPI), Sonja Stojanovic, the CCMR director and Zorana Atanosovic, BSSS Research Fellow delivered presentation on the development of CCMR and its project Mapping and Monitoring of Security Sector.
In informal atmosphere, Sonja and Zorana discussed with the colleagues from NUPI about challenges of measuring progress in security sector reform. They gained valuable feedback by the NUPI researchers specializing in political science, international relations, economy, anthropology and developments studies.
During her stay in Oslo, Sonja Stojanovic also met with the representatives of Norwegian Minstry of Defence’s Department for Security Policy, Kjersti Klžbo and Stian Jenssen. In the meeting Sonja presented the BSSS model of development of civilian expertise in security issues.

At the panel discussion “Freedoms Under Pressure: Civil Society and Digital Oversight in Serbia and Abroad”, organised by the Belgrade Centre for Security Policy (BCSP) on 31 October in Belgrade, speakers warned that digital surveillance and spyware use are rapidly becoming tools of political control in Serbia and across Europe, posing severe risks to human rights and democracy.
