BCSP researchers Isidora Stakic and Bojan Elek will spend next four weeks as visiting researchers at the Norwegian Institute for International Affairs (NUPI) in Oslo.

BCSP researchers Maja Bjelos and Bojan Elek in this paper analyse the implementation of the Agreement reached in Brussels in April 2013, focusing on the key part of the Agreement which explicitly stated that local Serbian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MUP) units would be disbanded and integrated into the Kosovo Police (KP).

Rapid progress regarding integration of the former members of Serbian Ministry of Interior (MoI) in Northern Kosovo into Kosovo Police requires further investments by Belgrade and Pristina authorities and international community.

During their work at the Kosovar Center for Security Studies, BCSP researchers Maja Bjelos and Bojan Elek have conducted more than 20 interviews, as a part of their field work on the integration of Serbian police officers from Northern Kosovo into the Kosovo police. Besides that, as guest researchers they also participated at several public events and media appearances.

BCSP researchers Katarina Djokic and Marko Milosevic analyze the latest provisions to modify and supplement the Law on Defence and the Law on the Serbian Armed Forces.

During the next two weeks BCSP researchers Maja Bjelos and Bojan Elek will be a part of Kosovar Center for Security Studies (KCSS) team, as a guest researchers.

BCSP activities in 2013 were highlighted by contributions to the systematic fight against corruption within police, military and security services, advancement of gender equality in security sector, opening of the dialogue on future of Serbian-Albanian relations and beginning of the independent monitoring of Serbia’s progress in chapters 23 and 24 of the EU negotiating process.

Serbian CSOs clearly perceive the EU accession process as an opportunity for increased influence on domestic reforms stated Natasha Wunsch at the presentation of research findings held in BCSP library on 10 December 2013.

The lecture in BCSP library gathered representatives from Serbian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Defence, Security Information Agency, OSCE Mission to Serbia, political parties and civil society.
