Threat Perceptions in the OSCE Area
BCSP Director Sonja Stojanovic Gajic is the author of the study on threat perceptions in Serbia which is published by OSCE Network of Think Tanks and Academic Institutions as a part of the analysis "Threat Perceptions in the OSCE Area" .
The publication “Threat Perceptions in the OSCE Area” is presented by OSCE Network of Think Tanks and Academic Institutions during the informal “Helsinki +40” Working Group held on 29 April 2014 in the Vienna.
The study is based on 18 country reports from institutes and think tanks of participating States that are well distributed over the OSCE area. BCSP Director and a member of the steering committee of the OSCE Network of Think Tanks and Academic Institutions Sonja Stojanovic Gajic said that the studies from the five transformation states – Albania, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Serbia and Ukraine share a strong focus on domestic threat perceptions.
The paper is analysis of a broad spectrum of threat perceptions that governments have and a comparison among them. This analysis has the goal to provide background information and facilitate discussions in the OSCE’s Helsinki + 40 process.
Beside BCSP Director, the report was presented by Dr. Wolfgang Zellner, Head of the Centre for OSCE Research (CORE), Mr. Barend ter Haar, Senior Research Fellow at the Clingendael Institute of International Relations and Ambassador Philip Remler, Carnegie Endowment for International Peace.
The study is published by OSCE Network of Think Tanks and Academic Institutions, an autonomous, OSCE-related track II initiative. Its members are research institutions from across the OSCE area, which are engaged in academic research and policy analysis on issues relevant to the OSCE’s security agenda. The network provides expertise, stimulates discussion and raises awareness of the OSCE. It contributes to the ongoing security dialogue within the OSCE framework.
