Serbia-Kosovo*: Potential for Cooperation and Key Challenges of Common European Perspective

Belgrade Centre for Security Policy and European Movement Serbia are organizing the round table "Serbia-Kosovo*: Potential for Cooperation and Key Challenges of Common European Perspective" which will take place on Tuesday, 29th of April in Aero Klub (Uzun Mirkova 4, Belgrade) at 11h.

During the event BCSP researchers Maja Bjelos and Bojan Elek will present the first public analysis on progress and challenges to the integration of Serbian police officers in Kosovo Police as per the Brussels Agreement. The policy paper „Police Integration in North Kosovo: Progress and Remaining Challenges in the Implementation of the Brussels Agreement“ was drafted as a part of Exchange Program between BCSP and Kosovar Center for Security Studies (KCSS).

The event will be split on three panels which aim to initiate discussion on the following topics:

  • Challenges and potentials of minority integration in police forces
  • Stabilization and association process and European integration: Key challenges and opportunities of Serbia and Kosovo*
  • European integration – potentials for development, modernization and cooperation of local communities of Serbia and Kosovo*

After reaching an agreement between Belgrade and Pristina in 2013, the dialogue continues under the auspices of the European Union(EU) and signifies a key milestone in the integration process, as well as in the normalization of relations. The dialogue should lead to a visible and sustained normalization of relations and is deeply motivated by the european perspective of Serbia and Kosovo*. However, many issues are still on the agenda, concerning the much-needed economic development and improvement of cooperation of local communities.

Please confirm your attendance not later than Friday, 25th April via e-mail to the followind address masa.zivojinovic@emins.org or by phone: 3640-174.

The event is supported by Balkans Trust for Democracy, International Visegrad Fund and Embassy of Denmark in Serbia.

The agenda of the round table can be found in the document below.
