Security aspects of normalization of Belgrade-Pristina-Tirana relations

The role of police in the normalization of Serbian-Albanian relations and the implementation of security aspects of Brussels Agreement will be the topics discussed during the conference which will be held on June 27 at the Media Centre in Belgrade.

Key points of discussion during the first part of the conference will be the implementation of the agreements within the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue, the security aspects of the Brussels Agreement, as well as future challenges facing the normalization of relations between Belgrade and Pristina in the light of the negotiating process of Serbia with the European Union. The speakers on the first panel will be:

  • Sonja Stojanović Gajić, Director, Belgrade Centre for Security Policy
  • Florian Qehaja, Executive Director, Kosovar Center for Security Studies, Prishtina
  • Arjan Dyrmishi, Head of the European and Security Research Department, Institute for Democracy and Mediation, Tirana

In the second part of the conference the topic will be the integration of ethnic minorities in security institutions. Two analyzes on integration of Albanians in the Serbian police and the integration of Serbs in Kosovo police will be presented. These are analysis of the independent experts from Pristina and Belgrade. The analyzes will be presented by:

  • Riza Halimi, Member of the Parliament
  • Maja Bjeloš, Researcher, Belgrade Centre for Security Policy, Belgrade
  • Sofije Kryeziu, Researcher, Kosovar Center for Security Studies, Prishtina
  • Shpend Kursani, Research Associate, Kosovar Center for Security Studies, Prishtina
