Building integrity in defense was the main topic of the meeting of the Belgrade Centre for Security Policy with Minister of Defense Zoran Djordjevic and his associates from the Ministry of Defense, which was held on 13th July 2016 in the library of the BCSP.

In the framework of the research “Global Anti-corruption Index of Defense”, BCSP, as the partner of the organization Transparency International, announced key findings for Serbia in the late 2015. Research has pointed on the progress made in implementing anti-corruption measures in the Ministry of Defense, but on some disadvantages as well.

Minister of Defense Zoran Djordjevic expressed the willingness of Ministry of Defense and Serbian Armed Forces to continue with the building of integrity in the defense system, as well as to continue the cooperation with civil society organizations competent in this field.

BCSP publication “Assessment of Integrity in the Security Sector of Serbia” is one of the products of years of research of corruption risks in the security sector, and BCSP is one of the several organizations in Serbia which performed the duty of the Civil Supervisor, a mechanism for supervising the public procurement.

    The Belgrade Centre for Security Policy (BCSP) strongly urges the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Serbia to immediately cease the excessive and unlawful use of force against peaceful demonstrators. Security forces must treat all citizens equally, act in accordance with the law and strictly follow service regulations during any intervention.
