Radicalization, corruption, migration, organized crime, the Belgrade-Pristina conflict and state capture are the biggest challenges in the Western Balkans – this is one of the conclusions of the first “International Balkans Session” organized by the Institute for Higher National Defence Studies from France, which was held from 1 to 11 May 2019 in Paris.
Participants from the countries of Southeastern Europe, including BCSP Executive Director Predrag Petrovic, gathered to discuss regional security, EU integration and relations with NATO and major powers.

The BCSP Executive Director shared data on radicalization and violent extremism in Serbia. The BCSP team conducted research on these problems in Serbia, which concluded that violent extremism is not a problem, but that there is a significant number of people willing to turn to violence, as well as the trend of spreading radical beliefs.
