NATO parliamentarians visited BCSP
The delegation of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly met with the representatives of the BCSP during their visit to Serbia, which also included meetings with the high state officials.
Serbian citizens' views on Serbia's Euro-Atlantic integration, the relations between Belgrade and Pristina, the situation in northern Kosovo, but also the long and successful functioning of the civil society organisation were main topics discussed during meeting between delegation of the Committee on the Civil Dimension of Security of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly and the representatives of the BCSP.
After the talks with the Prime Minister of Serbia, the President of the Serbian National Assembly, and the members of the Defense and Internal Affairs Committee, the NATO delegation visited the BCSP. The Director of the BCSP Sonja Stojanovic Gajic briefly presented the 15 years development of the organisation, and the NATO representatives were interested in how an independent research center managed to “survive” for so long.
The NATO Parliamentary Assembly delegation paid the greatest attention to the presentations of the BCSP researchers. Firstly, Marko Milosevic presented the research on the public opinion on Serbian cooperation with the European Union and the NATO, as well as the data on the perceptions of Serbian citizens about who are the greatest friends and enemies of Serbia. Then Katarina Djokic presented her analysis of the current situation in relations between Belgrade and Pristina.
After that, the dialogue got even more dynamic, and the representatives of different European countries expressed their doubts about the reliability of the available information on the North Kosovo. They also inquired about the situation of displaced Serbs and of those who still live in Kosovo.
After the one-hour meeting in the library of the BCSP, the NATO delegation went on with their visit and traveled to Kosovo where they met with the high representatives of Kosovo officials and local Serbs.
