BCBP PROJECTS
Empowering youth to promote security policy
The main goal of the project is to create content on security sector reform and management, on Wikipedia, so that reliable information on these topics could be available to the public. Also, the goal of the project is to give young people the opportunity to, besides improving knowledge on security topics, get the skills needed to write on online platforms such as Wikipedia as well as the skills necessary to data visualization.
The project will bring together a group of students from the Faculty of Political Science and the Faculty of Security, who will with the support of mentors, write articles for Wikipedia on various topics related to security sector reform.
Students will also create 6 short products (infographics, glossaries, backgrounders, blogs) that deal with security sector reform and governance. In this way, they will bring closer to the general public complex concepts such as security sector transparency, the role of independent state bodies in overseeing the security sector, cybersecurity, or the concept of community policing. By creating posts for Wikipedia, but also short products, they will prepare concise and credible materials for future students interested in security topics.
Within the project, several activities are planned:
- Security Sector Reform Workshop
- Workshop on writing for Wikipedia
- Data visualization workshop
- Final panel discussion
- Discussions with young people from Belgrade, Niš, and Novi Pazar
The project is supported by the OSCE Mission to Serbia and Government of Sweden.
