The aim of this project is to shed light to digital surveillance infrastructure in Serbia which will enable digital democracy community to make evidenced based policy recommendations, as well as increase the knowledge and awareness among citizens about dangers that unrestricted digital surveillance poses to human rights and democracy.
Within this project, BCSP aims to map digital surveillance infrastructure in Serbia by identifying:
- state actors using digital surveillance tools,
- digital surveillance tools being used by state actors,
- discrepancies between the legal mandate of state institutions and digital surveillance tools at their disposal, including oversight mechanisms,
- how and to what extent do digital surveillance tools at the disposal of state institutions endanger human rights and democracy, and group them accordingly,
- the most critical cases of human rights abuses by digital surveillance.
BCSP will organize Online Digital Hygiene Training for Human Rights Defenders and Whistleblowers and will conduct campaign that will include media articles, public event and one episode of Lighthouse podcast.
