Safe Heaven for the Civil Society at the time of the War in Ukraine

The main goal of this project is to contribute to the defense of the space for civil society activities, which is threatened as a result of the war in Ukraine, by providing refuge and a space for continued work for civil society experts from Russia and Belarus.

This project contributes to the creation of a permanent research program at the BCSP, called “Safe Haven,” which would focus on analyzing trends in foreign and security policy in Russia and post-Soviet states and their impact on the Western Balkans.

The “Safe Haven” research center enables researchers from Russia and Belarus to work at the BCSP during their stay in Serbia.

Through the publication of analyses, media articles, and the organisation of public discussions, the BCSP aims to raise awareness among Serbian citizens about Russia and the post-Soviet space, especially in the context of the war in Ukraine.
