BCBP PROJECTS

Western Balkans Alignment with the EU’s Foreign and Security Policy

The overall goal of this project is to create a framework for the transformation of the Belgrade Centre for Security Policy into a regional foreign policy think tank, through the expansion and strengthening of the already existing partnership network with related organizations and individuals from the entire region. The establishment of the regional centre for monitoring and informing the public about the alignment of the Western Balkans countries with the EU’s foreign and security policy is a priority of this project.

The newly established BCSP International Advisory Committee will be the central engine of this transformation. In order to achieve the goal of regionalization the work of the BCSP, our intention is to attract experts from the entire region, Europe and the world to analyze the foreign and security policies of the countries in the region and their relations with external influence. The analysis will focus on the following areas: the common security infrastructure in the Western Balkans, the Russian threat to regional security, the growing influence of China in the region, the focus on Hungarian and Turkish influence, and the geopolitical and security dimensions of the green transition in the Western Balkans.

Based on the research of aforementioned areas, BCSP will produce analysis for society and decision-makers in the region, and organize debates on the most important foreign policy and security issues in the world, thus providing material for making foreign policy decisions in the interest of citizens, democracy and stability of the region.
