Žarko Puhovski, Professor at the Faculty of Philosophy (University of Zagreb), visited the Centre for Civil-Military Relations on Wednesday, July 11, 2007 and held a lecture on the reach of European Union’s normative power.
In his presentation, Puhovski analysed the deficit of democracy in the European Union, but also the crisis of its legitimacy, caused by the unclear conduct of the accession criteria, regarding to the last round of accession.
Puhovski finally posed a question, are there any enlargement criteria at all, or is the enlargement of the European Union motivated primarily by geo-strategic reasons.
