Round table on territorial and border demarcation disputes
Everyday life problems of people in Serbia who live near the administrative line with Kosovo and the border with Montenegro, as well as approaches to solving these issues are topics of the debate set for April 10th in the BCSP library.

The newly established borders in the Western Balkans are an obstacle to free movement of people and goods and contributed to the economic marginalization of the region, and progress in resolving the disputed issues depends on the political process – conclusions are of the regional research, in which BCSP participated.
Two case studies of BCSP researcher Zorana Brozović, developed after field research, will be presented at the event.

BCSP has participated in a regional study which analyzed the territorial disputes and border demarcation issues in several regions in the world. In Serbia, the focus of the research were the problems of people living near the administrative boundary with Kosovo and Metohija and near the border with Montenegro.
The study attempted to answer the following questions:
- What are the most important problems of people living near the administrative boundary with Kosovo and Metohija/border between Serbia and Montenegro?
- What approaches did the local, regional and international actors applied during the previous resolution of territorial disputes and border demarcation issues?
- How EU accession policies and approach to Western Balkan and can contribute to resolution of territorial and border demarcation disputes?
The recommendations of this study are intended to Serbian Government, local authorities and European Union. The research was supported under the European Commission’s Instrument for Stability.
