BCSP progressed on global list of the most prestigious Think Tanks

Belgrade Centre for Security Policy (BCSP) was again included into the list of the best Think Tanks in Central and Eastern Europe, and also in the world among all those who deal with areas of defense and national security, and foreign policy and international relations.

In the latest global list of think tanks The 2013 Global Go To Think Tank Index  BCSP is ranked among the best in the region and in the world in three categories. BCSP is ranked 16th on the list of the best Think Tanks in Central and Eastern Europe, 27th place in the world among those who deal with defense and national security, as well as the 37th place among Top Foreign Policy and International Affairs Think Tanks.

A list published by University of Pennsylvania (USA) is a result of a several months of research covering 6,862 Think Tanks and related organizations in 182 countries around the world. Almost 2,000 institutions, organizations and independent experts, as well as journalists, donors and representatives of government, NGOs and international organizations participated in voting.

In favor to reputation of the organizations that were included in this review are stand the criteria used in assessing significance. Some of these are:

  • The link between the organization's efforts in a particular area and the positive changes to which these efforts have contributed;
  • Academic and media reputation;
  • The utility of of the organization in policy making;
  • The ability to create new knowledge and alternative ideas;
  • Is the organization a “bridge” between political institutions and civil society;
  • Relevance of the research topics, the scope and breadth of the audience that follows the work of the organization, the funds.

Global Go To Think Tank Index is a response of the University of Pennsylvania (Programme for research centers and civil society in the Department of International Relations) at the large number of requests of donors and journalists to make a list of of the most eminent national, regional and international think tanks. Organizations are ranked in 47 categories, according to the region they belong to, the areas explored and specific results they have achieved.

    The Civil Committee for the Protection of Human Rights Defenders and Whistleblowers calls on the competent Public Prosecutor’s Office to immediately act upon information about an alleged plot to assassinate student Pavle Cicvarić, as publicly stated on Informer television by Siniša Vučinić, a member of the Main Board of the Serbian Progressive Party.
