On the 27th of April 2016. in the Guard Palace of Topcider barracks in Belgrade, the expert disscussion „Participation of the Army of Serbia in multinatoonal operations-Experience and Perspectives“ was held and it was pointed out that  Republic of Serbia  has had long term experience in participation in UN missions and since present time in EU and that there are plans for increment in participation of the Army of Serbia in a peace operations in the world.
Existing strategic, doctrinal and normative documents represent an adequate framework for the engagement of the Army of Serbia and civilians in multinational operations, but it is necessary to update them according to the new security environment and threats, and political interests and existing material and human resources, as participants stressed.

Serbia is clearly committed to European integration and in the future we can expect a greater contribution to the Common Foreign and Security Policy of the EU and greater involvement in EU missions. In order to improve our own capacity and to contribute to the objectives of the European security policy, it is essential to have a long-term planning, involvement and good coordination of inter-departmental ministries, as well as adequate training of members of the Serbian Army and other stakeholders, as Uros Zivkovic from BCSP said.

Besides BCSP’s associate, during the meeting the spikers were representatives of the Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Committee on Defense and Internal Affairs of the National Assembly, the Office for European Integration and the UN Office in Belgrade.
Expert discussion was organized in order to review the experience gained from the participation of the Army of Serbia in multinational operations, analysis of problems and needs related to the implementation of the existing strategic and doctrinal framework of participation of the Serbian Army and other entities of the Republic of Serbia in multinational operations, as well as prospects for their further participation. – ovaj pasus pogledaj  bolje, nisam nikako prevela.
The Western Balkan countries has been contributing to UN peace-keeping missions for many years. However, the changed nature of conflict, the requirements for reconstruction and development of society and institution-building in post-conflict areas have influenced the shift of focus from purely military to civilian missions and civilian experts participating in UN and EU missions. Since the countries of the region are still developing civilian capacities for participation in peacekeeping missions, BCSP through the three-year project Building civil capacity of Western Balkan countries to participate in peacekeeping operations seeks to support the governments of Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatian, Montenegro, Macedonia and Serbia to improve knowledge and the capacity to send civilians to missions.
