Belgrade-Pristina-Tirana: what is the future of relations in this triangle

Belgrade Centre for Security Policy (BCBP) organizes on 9th September expert discussion about the challenges that exist in the relations in the triangle Belgrade - Pristina - Tirana and possibilities for overcoming them, as well as the priorities in this area in the future.

Despite the fact that in the domestic political, professional and general public the subject of relations between Belgrade and Pristina has the central roll, there aren’t many opportunities in which this topic is approached from the perspective of possible mid-term changes in Serbia, the region and Europe in the next ten years. Even less is the possibility of domestic professional public to talk about the impact of Tirana on the dynamics of the region and the possible interpretations of these impacts for planning Foreign and Security Policy of Serbia towards the region.

Taking into account the need for exchange between experts and decision makers from different social spheres and various value orientations on these topics, BCBP is organizing structured discussion on possible future scenarios.

Participation in this event is only possible with accreditation, and it is necessary to apply on mail: office@bezbednost.org or by phone: 011/3287 226. When registering you need to specify whether participate in the development of scenarios or only in the introductory part of the event.

The opening panel will be moderated by President of the Board BCBP Miroslav Hadzic, and some of the issues to be discussed will be:

  • What are the common interests, and what are the issues that will most likely remain controversial in ten years?
  • Is the importance of improvement of relations between Belgrade and Tirana now the same for the future of the region what it used to be the promotion of cooperation between Belgrade and Zagreb?
  • What are the key external factors that will influence the future of relations between Belgrade-Pristina-Tirana in ten years?

After the opening discussion it will be organized discussion with a limited number of participants with aim of drafting scenarios of possible developments in relations between Belgrade, Pristina and Tirana in the period of the next ten years.

Participants in this part of the meeting will be representatives of relevant government bodies, political parties, and civil society organizations dealing with these issues, as well as journalists, without reporting opportunities.

Scenario development has been recognized and widely applied tool for policy planning in industry and government. The discussion will be moderated by Dr. Filip Ejdus and Sonja Stojanovic Gajic from BCSP.
