Citizens of Serbia on corruption in police – presentation of the results of public opinion poll
Belgrade Centre for Security Policy (BCSP), Novi Sad School for Journalism and Toplica Centre for Democracy and Human Rights are organising conference at the Media center where latest citizens’ perceptions of corruption in police in Serbia will be presented.
This is the first public opinion poll done by civil sector which is specifically focused on the citizens' perception of corruption in the police. This research highlights also citizens' personal experiences with corruptied police employees and evaluation of the reforms in police.
BCSP researchers Predrag Petrovic, Sasa Djordjevic and Marko Savkovic will speak of most important poll findings, centred around following dillemmas:
1. How do citizens of Serbia evaluate new Government’s anti-corruption drive?
2. Which is the most corrupted instance in police?
3. Politicization and criminalization of police as greatest obstacles to fight against corruption;
4. How much do citizens know of internal control in the police?
5. How prepared citizens are to fight against corruption?
We kindly ask you to confirm your presence by 10 April 2013. For all additional information contact Sasa Djordjevic: +381 (0) 11 3287 226 or at sasa.djordjevic@bezbednost.org
Public opinion research is the first result of the work of A-COP group composed of 10 civil society organizations dedicated to strenghtening anti-corruption efforts in Serbia.
The project “A-COP: Civil Society Against Corruption in Police” is supported by the Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Serbia and the Office for Cooperation with Civil Society of the Government of Serbia.
