New BCSP guest researcher is interested in Serbia and NATO relations
During the next two weeks, Foto Duro from the Institute for Democracy and Mediation in Tirana will be a part of BCSP research team.
As a BCSP guest researcher, Duro will conduct a study on bilateral defense cooperation between Serbia and NATO.
“During my stay in Belgrade I will conduct a research which will a combination of desk research, studying publicly available documents and interviews conducted with people in charge to deal with NATO and other informed persons from CSOs, academia. The first draft of the paper is planned to be completed in a month time following the internship”, said Duro.
Foto Duro was graduated from the “Skënderbeg” Military Academy in Tirana in 1981. Recently, he completed his PhD studies in the Defense Academy of Tirana, with the focus of his dissertation on enhancing the defense planning in the Albanian Armed Forces. During more than 30 years of his military career Duro served in different positions, from company level, up to division. In the two last years of his military career, until retiring in September 2012, he had the position of the Policy Director in the Albanian Ministry of Defense. In these positions he had been involved in preparation of a number of strategic documents as well as reports to NATO, in the framework of the Membership Action Plan.
Shortly after his retirement from the service, he joined the Institute for Democracy and Mediation (IDM), Tirana, where he is involved in several projects, consisting of studying and providing advocacy on democratization and Europeanization of the Security Sector institutions in Albania.
