BCSP researcher Katarina Djokic analyzes the possible benefits for Serbia from international cooperation in the field of defense economy on the case of demilitarization of surplus weapons and improvement of the capacities of the Technical Repair Institute Kragujevac.

New BCSP publication deals with Serbia-NATO cooperation aimed at enhancing interoperability of the Serbian Armed Forces (SAF) through military exercises and training. Interoperability building is of great importance for participation in multinational operations, where SAF members have to function in synergy with other countries’ armed forces.

BCSP presents selected constitutional provisions of 50 states and entities all over the world, including Serbia. This publication was produced with the financial support of National Endowment for Democracy (NED). Responsibility for the content of this publication belongs solely to BCSP.

Research team of the Belgrade Center for Security Policy presents a number of recommendations for improving the Draft Law on Amendments to the Law on Police, which is in the parliamentary procedure. The analysis contains comments and explanations of the changes for each of the controversial members of the Act.

In addition to commenting on the proposed amendments to the Law on Defense and the Army, the BCSP research team draws attention to already problematic or defective legal solutions.

The new publication of the BCSP research team contains a number of recommendations that are deemed to be realistically applicable and which will influence the improvement of the results of MoI in the field of public procurement performance.

More than half of the population in Serbia (56%) showed trust in the police. Over the last three years, a steady yet small increase in the level of trust in the police has been observed. However, it is still below the global average of 60-90%.These are the main findings of a public opinion survey conducted within the framework of the regional network of civil society organizations POINTPULSE.

The Western Balkans police forces must communicate much more effectively with citizens in order to increase the level of trust and confidence in their work; they also need to adapt the methods and channels of communication to the target groups. This is especially important when it comes to younger generations who, as a rule, have much a more negative perception of the institutions than the older population.
