What Does the New Law on Police Bring to the Citizens?

Belgrade Centre for Security Policy (BCSP), as the coordinator of the Working Group for Chapter 24 within the National Convention on the European Union (NCEU), together with the EU Info Corner Nis, is organizing the Round table on the new Draft Law on Police, scheduled to take place on Thursday, 19 of March, at the Media Center in Nis, starting at 13:00h, with the topic of “What Does New Law on Police Bring to the Citizens.”

At the round table it will be discussed whether the new Law on Police presents solutions that are good enough for advancing local safety, human rights, reduction of corruption risks within the police force and their more effective work. Also, it will be discussed about the preconditions that are necessary so that the changes envisaged by the new Law on Police may produce results on the ground.

The aim of the round table is to inform the organizations outside of Belgrade about the dialogue between the institutions and civil society during the accession negotiations of Serbia with the EU. The intention is to help establish the dialogue between the representatives of the local civil society organizations, academic community, local governments, media and other parties that are interested to participate and contribute to the process of further democratization of Serbia and implementation of reforms, within the framework of Serbian accession process to the EU.
