When does the EU Law Enforcement Directive apply?
BCSP researcher Jelena Pejić explains all the conditions that need to be met in order for the European Union Police Directive to be implemented.
The EU Police Directive (LED Law Enforcement Directive – LED) was adopted in the spring 2016, and will be applied from 25 May 2018, as well as the EU General Data Protection Regulation – GDPR. The Police Directive is specific in the circumstances in which it is applied and in the solutions it contains.
This one pager defines the concepts of personal data, data processing and data collection and offers answers to the questions of what are the general preconditions and special conditions that must be met in order for the EU Police Directive to be implemented. It also states what remains outside the implementation of the EU Police Directive.

The concept of the “colour revolution” has shifted from describing democratic uprisings in post-socialist states to serving as a powerful tool of authoritarian control. In Serbia, the ruling elite—drawing heavily on the Russian strategic playbook—has reframed the term as a symbol of foreign subversion aimed at overthrowing the government and destabilising the country. Since 2012, this narrative has been systematically used to delegitimise dissent, protests, and civic mobilisation.
