Belgrade Security Forum 2017

Seventh Belgrade Security Forum titled “Building a Common Future in the Age of Uncertainty” will take place in Hyatt hotel on October 11-13, 2017.

During a three-day conference, 21 discussions with more than 100 panelists and 700 participants will be held. For a seventh year in a row, the forum will gather various prominent names of international political and diplomatic scene, as well as perspective researchers and scientists, in order to enable Serbia and the region to participate in the global discussion on possibilities and challenges Europe and the world are currently facing.

Academic event named “The EU as a Global Crisis Manager”, will traditionally open the conference and direct the dialogue of young and perspective researchers on the EU’s role in crisis management, by examining coordination of its civilian capacities and visibility of its influence. Academic event is organized in cooperation with the research project H2020 EU CIVCAP – “Preventing and Responding to Conflict: Developing EU Civilian Capabilities for a Sustainable Peace”. Future of the European Union and the European perspective of the Westen Balkans, as well as the responses to increasing inequality and populism, are the main topics forum will cover. Contribution of Serbia-NATO cooperation to the region’s stability and normalization of relations between Belgrade and Pristina will also be discussed, and a special panel will be devoted to Berlin process. Session will also focus on migration, economic influence, soft power, as well as the post-truth phenomenon and proxy wars, relations between religion and security, e-government, women in the Western Balkans politics and the so called millenials.

Among others, the forum will host President of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić, Prime Minister of Serbia Ana Brnabić, Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivica Dačić, Director-General for Neigbourhood and Enlargement Negotiations at the European Commission Christian Danielsson and Deputy Secretary General of NATO Rose Gottemoeller.

Belgrade Security Forum is a result of three civil society organizations initiative: Belgrade Fund for Political Excellence, European Movement in Serbia and Belgrade Centre for Security Policy. Since its launch in 2011, the forum represents a platform for  exchange of opinions on current security issues among decision makers, security institutions representatives, academic community and civil society in the Western Balkans, Europe and the world.
